During four decades of performing, Gf Morgan, or Jeff as he is better known, has shared stages with many of the top artists in both Celtic and Folk genres.

As a seasoned performer, arranger and recording artist, his skill has brought him accolades in America and Europe. At home with both small venue audiences and large concert crowds, Morgan is known for engaging the audience with ballads, sea chanteys and instrumentals as well as original music of his own composition.

In addition to his musical skills, Morgan hosts a radio program on WDVR-FM radio in New Jersey entitled "Broadsides & Broadswords" which traces the roots of balladry and songs and presents a mix of Celtic jigs, reels, strathspeys and hornpipes as well as traditional and more modern ballads, many of which are becoming classics in the genre.

Morgan was one of the founding members of the band Renegade which morphed into the critically acclaimed band Mollyhawkes. He was also one of the founding members of the Electric Celtic band Na Bodach and also is still working with the Hobnail band.

His CD Driftwood which was released in 2021, received critical praise on both sides of the Atlantic.

REVIEWS

“Magenta reveals itself as a rich and complex fabric, woven with threads of poignant ballads, songs of sailors who have braved the infinity of the oceans, and original compositions which carry within them the very substance of the Celtic land.

Each note of Magenta is a caress, each melody a journey to the heart of the soul. Morgan, with unparalleled mastery, summons the spirits of ancestors through his captivating fingerstyle guitar playing, his expertise on the concertina and instruments of the mandolin family. He is the storyteller, the musician, the architect of bridges between the past and today, gracefully demonstrating that Celtic music, far from being a relic of the past, is vibrant, alive, and deeply anchored in the present.

With Magenta, Morgan doesn’t just play music; he reinvents it, nourishes it with his experiences, his travels, his encounters. Each piece is a chapter in this great saga that is Celtic music, revisited with audacity and sensitivity. This album is a dialogue between the artist and his heritage, a quest for beauty in ancestral sounds, and a celebration of life itself through the prism of music.

The critical reception of Driftwood had already set the stage for what Morgan was capable of offering. Magenta confirms and expands his musical universe, offering a listening experience that is both a refuge and an exploration, a place where nostalgia meets innovation. This album is an invitation to dance under the stars, to dream with open eyes, to feel the infinite power of music which, like a river, has flowed for centuries, nourishing souls thirsty for truth, beauty, and authenticity.

GF Morgan is not just giving us an album; it opens the doors to a world where each note is a breath of life, each chord a golden thread woven into the great carpet of our humanity.

Magenta is a beacon in the night, guiding freedom-loving hearts to the sacred shores of Celtic inspiration, where music is eternal, as timeless as the stones of ancient dolmens under the infinite sky."

"Morgan delivers an excellent set of skillfully performed recreations of traditional Irish songs and original compositions as well, providing lively instrumentals and engaging vocals as well."

- Angel Romero,  World Music Central

"Driftwood is a folk album full of good music, good scholarship and packed with inspiration. It has the hand of a connoisseur all over it."

 - Seán Laffey,  Irish Music Magazine

"Morgan’s original songs reveal just how much the essence of Celtic music has become part of his American soul. The instrumental title track could easily be mistaken for one of the countless achingly beautiful Irish or Scottish odes to freedom denied or unrequited love."

- Dan Walsh,   Americana Music Review

"Conjuring up images of the Emerald Isles, this is a transportive meditation on familiar Celtic motifs. A beautiful recording!"

- Steve Azami,  Radio Airplay eZine
